“Masculinity can mean many different things to different people in different times and places. Our hope is to spark an in-depth conversation about what men can be versus what they are expected to be by culture.”

Director Will Harper — who also directed the groundbreaking film, Sensitive—The Untold Story — is working on a new film, Sensitive Men Rising—The Documentary. The Foundation for Highly Sensitive People has opened a Kickstarter campaign to seek funding to complete this new film.
The film will be based on over 25 years of scientific research by psychologist and bestselling author of The Highly Sensitive Person, Dr. Elaine Aron, who discovered the innate trait of high sensitivity. The trait is present in 20-30% of the world’s population.
Half of all these sensitive people are men. That’s about 1 billion men.
But as most of us know, our culture doesn’t acknowledge sensitivity in men the same as for women. Sensitive men may see their trait as a weakness and deny its unique strengths, to the detriment of themselves, their families, and humanity.
Will Harper says it’s time to change that!
And I agree. As for me, I’m a highly sensitive woman who lives with a highly sensitive man. This man I live with isn’t weak, and he doesn’t want to be seen that way. He’s polite, helpful, and he cares about others. He hates injustice and lies. He’s smart, deep, and honest. And there’s an inner strength in his presence that’s difficult to describe.
Co-producer of Sensitive Men Rising, Dr. Tracy Cooper, says, “Our keen sensitivity, our deep minds and hearts, hold a promise of a different way to be men. It’s still strong, but allows for real humans. The powerful impression of manhood is broader and more nuanced. It’s still the kind of man you need in a crisis.”
This fits my guy.
